Our Ethos

CBS, The British School of Seville, was conceived from the outset as a project for the future, distinct from established educational norms, and therefore unique in the Province of Seville.

CBS considers personality development, emotional maturity, physical well-being, contact with nature, and affective relationships as fundamental components for a child's integral education.

Furthermore, CBS promotes the most important human values in personal development: tolerance, respect, responsibility, solidarity, and determination.

The education we give our children today will help them face life with resolution and confidence in the future. Their happiness will depend on their ability to face challenges and resolve life's constant "tests."

Therefore, at CBS, we believe that education based on personality development and emotional intelligence is paramount. The methodology applied must be an integral process involving three major interrelated areas: Committed Parents, Motivated Pupils, and an Educational System of Excellence.

Committed Parents

This commitment allows for greater effectiveness and efficiency in the children's education. The family sets the educational line, and the school must be the tool parents use to complement and support that line. Therefore, we consider it vital that parents have a deep understanding of the School’s educational project.

We foster proactive participation through an "open-door" educational project, encouraging parents to take part in school activities to create a sense of complicity that extends beyond the home. This implies a constant, multi-lateral communication channel between parents, the School, and the teaching team.

We promote close collaboration so that families work in support and improvement of the Centre, listening to their opinions and implementing ideas that enhance our educational project.

Motivated Pupils

For CBS, the fundamental goal is to teach children how rewarding and pleasant the mere act of learning can be. It is essential that children want to come to school every day and that they find being inside the classroom far more enjoyable than being outside of it.

We believe that if we manage to plant the seed of curiosity, we will have achieved much more than simply teaching concepts. To foster this motivation, we provide:

  • An appropriate setting in nature, where children can play and relax.
  • A building designed with a sense of freedom.
  • Teachers who listen and understand every concern of our pupils.
  • A group dynamic that is always inclusive and never exclusive.

Educational System of Excellence

CBS applies excellence across the four basic pillars of our educational system:

1. Contents

We follow the British National Curriculum alongside key subjects from the Spanish system (Language and Culture), allowing pupils to obtain a dual qualification recognized by both countries.

2. Objectives

We focus on skills and competences. Unlike simple knowledge, a skill is a dexterity that, once acquired, is never lost and continues to improve through practice throughout life.

3. Methodology

Based on experimentation through play. We aim for interactive and enjoyable classes where the desire to learn continues even after the school day ends.

4. Evaluation

We assess levels of achievement in skills rather than just variable knowledge. This allows for an objective and constant measurement of the child's real progress.
