Primary education at CBS

Primary is a key stage in our pupils’ academic, emotional and social development. From Year 1 to Year 6, children consolidate the foundations built in Early Years and prepare progressively for the challenges of Secondary education.

Through the British curriculum, active learning methodologies and a caring school environment, pupils develop confidence, independence, curiosity and a genuine love of learning.

In Primary, we combine the rigour of British education with the personal, emotional and social development of each pupil.

High standards in Literacy, Mathematics and Science help pupils build strong academic foundations.

Active learning

Pupils take part in projects, experiments and practical activities that make learning meaningful.

Emotional education

We promote values such as respect, tolerance, empathy and solidarity from an early age.

Active Methodologies and Meaningful Learning

Project-Based Learning

Pupils work on interdisciplinary projects that allow them to investigate, create, present and reflect, encouraging deep and meaningful learning.

Cooperative Learning

Children take part in collaborative group dynamics where they share roles, work together and build knowledge collectively, while also developing essential social skills.

Thinking Routines and Thinking Skills

We encourage critical and creative thinking through visual and organisational strategies that help pupils structure reasoning and deepen understanding.

Movement and Active Learning

We believe that body and mind are closely connected: movement, games, sensory activities and hands-on experiences are integrated throughout the learning process.

Multiple Intelligences

We design learning experiences that stimulate different types of intelligence: verbal-linguistic, logical-mathematical, musical, spatial, kinaesthetic, interpersonal and intrapersonal.

This is how learning comes to life in Primary at CBS.

A Student-Centred Approach

Emotional Wellbeing

We create a safe and caring environment where pupils feel valued and respected. From an early age, we encourage empathy, self-esteem and strong social-emotional skills.

Attention to Individual Needs

We respect different learning styles and paces, providing individual support whenever needed. We promote an inclusive education that values diversity and individuality.

Close Guidance and Support

Teachers guide, motivate and closely support each pupil, adapting strategies to help them grow with confidence, curiosity and independence.

Planning and Assessment in Primary

Flexible and Dynamic Planning

Teachers plan according to the objectives of the British curriculum, the interests of the group and the opportunities that arise naturally during learning. This encourages meaningful and contextualised learning experiences.

Continuous Assessment

Assessment is based on direct observation, analysis of pupils’ work, rubrics and self-assessment activities. It takes place continuously, naturally and without unnecessary pressure.

Ongoing Feedback

Feedback is clear, specific and constructive. Pupils understand what they have done well, what they can improve and how to move forward. Self-assessment and reflection on learning are actively encouraged.

Personal Development and Values

At CBS, we educate for life. Through the PSHE programme and complementary activities, our pupils develop essential skills for their wellbeing, relationships and future personal growth.

Respect and Empathy

We promote relationships based on understanding, kindness and acceptance of others.

Critical Thinking

We encourage reflection, analysis and informed decision-making from an early age.

Teamwork

We learn together. Cooperation and communication are essential parts of daily life at CBS.

Emotional Management

We develop emotional intelligence to help pupils manage feelings, frustrations and relationships confidently.

Social and Environmental Responsibility

We educate socially responsible citizens who care about their community, the planet and meaningful causes.

Artistic, Sporting and Community Participation

We encourage enriching experiences that strengthen community spirit, teamwork, creativity and a sense of belonging. From charity projects to artistic and physical activities, everything contributes to the holistic development of each pupil.

At CBS, Primary is not simply another stage in education: it is the moment when children discover their voice, strengthen their thinking and learn how to become active members of the world around them.

Our commitment is to provide a high-quality British education that helps children grow into confident, capable and happy individuals.
